The main difference between the hc7 and fx7 is going to be low light performance. The fx7 has larger sensors so it will produce better color in low light. The two are not even in the same class in regards to low light performance.

Wow, somebody didn't do the homework. Who was it? (clearing throat...)

FX7 has 1/4" sensor. HC7 has almost 1/3".

But true, it has better lowlight due to the lower number of pixels squeezed onto the chip.

The key word here is sensors, plural. The FX7 has also has a higher pixel count at 3360, compared to the 3200 of the hc7.

3 cmos is what?s said to be best in coulour balance but canon single cmos color processing is great upon what I am reading.
Single Cmos with a lot of pixel per cmos is great for resolution of stills
More than pixel count what matter is mesured outcome resolution filmed on chart (how much filmed lines count will be realy dispalyed on a TV) and I am courious to know that for comming hd JVC everio hd7 with three tiny 1/5 inch cmos (or ccd) using interpolation to puch up resolution and registered on an in-camera hard drive at 1920 x 1080

Wink But remember ...

... there is a 10-15% gap in quality between HC1 and HC3.
So I will buy the HC7 only wen it is as goog as the HC1.

I feel that persons participating in these forum are "hot" byers and eager to jump and get "the best".
First , it is difficult to have a definitive opinion since I did not see on line much users videos of hc20 (since its still in canon hands)
Second there have not been much testing reviews for the same above reasons
if I had to buy myself a cam I'll wait for some kind of neutral reviews to come out and more users opinion
