Looks like it might be a nice camcorder.

Never been a big fan of JVC.

Always under-delivering.

I read in camcorderinfo.com that all of JVC's hard drive precedors had large quality problems in compression and video performance. I'm wondering if these problems will disappear on the HD7. I personally hope so cause looking at the specs, this camcorder is perfect in every way. I love the fact that it records with 30Mbps bit rate speed to a hard drive which is not possible with Sony's hard drive camcorders which only record at around 20Mbps bit rate speed. We'll see, if JVC doesn't mess it up, they might be able to beat HDV quality with their HDD camcorder.

Has anyone even thought about a camcorder that works with a minimum illumination of 18 lux?

Having used the Panasonic 12 lux sens camcorders and basically found it unuseable except outdoors in daylight... I'm afraid that the HD7 is going to be relegated to bright sunny day beach holiday footage only.

Has anyone found video shot from the GZ-HD7?

I don't think there's a working model anywhere outside the HQ of JVC.

Why all the secrecy?

What's new about JVC cam is the ability to not only for sensor to capture 1920 1080 but to register IN THIS RESOLUTION this on its internal hardrive (with special compression JVC proceedings that seems to produce artefact on moving subjects).
Camcorderinfo will give information on the resolution and color reproduction aspact.
Other reviews (hope) will give more information about this compression artefacts.
WAIT AND SEE LIKE FOR CANON HC20

I would be very much interested in the 1920*1080 to tape. Most people I think won't notice much of a difference though. It's vertical resolution that is demanded. Horizontal rez kind of "just happens."
