Sony Carl-Zeiss lens v.s. Canon

I'd like some feedback from users of both brands regarding the quality of the video, in particular the colors. I notice for example with different films that some tend to be more bluish while others tend to be greenish. Thank you for all your comments.

Maybe manually adjusting white balance would help...

Or screw with color balance in post...

Or some sensors are just the way they are.

My cameras are not HDV, but DV. I own a Canon GL1 and a Sony PDX10 camcorder. The Canon has a 20X lens that is nice, but the Sony lens is just a sharp, and the Sony codec produces much cleaner video when both are bing used simultaneously shooting the same scene. The Sony handled movement much better. When panning or zooming slowly, the Canon had a significant amount of video noise.
Note, that this could be just a camera issue, and may be completely different with different cameras or with an HDV codec.

Sony is better in electronics while canon is better in glass.

I think that in both sd and hd there are arifacts when it comes to dark room shooting.But definitely carl zeiss lenses are much more of quality than the canon ones.At least in videocameras.In photography canon is better

correct, thats why sony have used a carl zeiss lens in some of their higher range cameras, carl zeiss lens are probably the most advanced lenses in the world

if you're going with sony make sure you have a carl zeiss lens. I got a sony without and was not impressed. I just bought a canon IXUS 70. Not the greatest on their range, but i just wanted to check canon out and i'm really happy with it for such a small camera

Sony cyber-shot (dsc w80) is very good 7.2 mega pixels, only thing is the self timer only has a ten second count down,other wise there great,the size of a 20 fag box.Great on the power. Had a canon power shot a460 it was bit on the big and was hard on power

Sony as far as I am concerned (my personal opinion)... Sony make good CD players, Amplifiers, & they even invented the MiniDisc. I have seen the results of my friends Sony Camera and I have never been too impressed.

With any Camera also, you MUST KNOW who makes the optics. (the lenses and the CCD) Sony don't specialise in lense manufacturing, and i don't see anything to indicate that they have teamed up with anyone like Nikkon, CANON or JVC for the optics.

CANON have been making Cameras for a loooong time. In fact, I think that's what they specialise in.
