Default HDR-HC7 vs. DCR-SR300

I have a DCR-SR300 on preorder, but am now thinking seriously about changing to HDR-HC7. I don't have an HD tv right now, and have no short term plans to pick one up.
I think the SR300 should very similar in quality to the SR100- any idea how SD images will compare between the SR100/300 and the HC7? Is it worth $250 to go to HD quality?

I think you are getting pretty much the same deal, except SR300 outputs in SD only, whereas HC7 outputs in HD

It is worth to go to HD quality if you will see HD video at home in the future.

Is HDV transfer to PC via USB a 1:1 download (1 hour of video on camera = 1 hour on pc)?

It's via i.Link, aka FireWire. (USB is too sluggish for HDV)

Correct. 63 min MiniDV Tape= 63 transfer, basically you playback the video.

don't know, but carry the flash light with you just in case.

It seems that if you turn down the exposure HC7 rules!
