Hi ,
I had shot with the squeezed 16:9 mode on a camera. Looks great on a plasma flatscreen. They requested the final product be veiwable to fill the full width of the widescreen tv, no black bars. BUT, they ask that it be veiwable on a 4:3 tv WITH black bars Now is this something i take care of on the DVDStudio end, or something that widescreen TV's handle? Or do i have to make 2 video tracks? thanks in advance! |

It could be done either way.
All TVs can play 16:9 letter boxed on 4:3 screen, but a viewer has to manually choose that option (available are Pan&Scan and Letterbox) on a DVD player. Since more viewers are not tech savvy and most likely will not find that option it is recommended to encode video letterboxed. Dual layer DVD's can hold both formats and you could make it a menu option to play either one. |
