Default HC7 vs HV10

Is the sony any better in resolution than canon in bright daylight?

You'll be fixed only when detailed review will be released for sony hc7 on camcorderinfo.com or other reviews;
Again comparrative CMOS resolution is just a part of the whole picture. What is important is:
- Mesured outcome resolution that depends on many other factors like optics and in camera processing (camcorderinfo kind of review)
- user or comparrative opinion reviews , those users that are editing semi professional work with that kind of camcorder

From what I've seen, I'd say probably not. It would be about the same though.

Optics are pretty good on both- Sony video always seems kinda dull and boring with ugly chroma noise. You'd have to turn down the color. I always do on HC3, helps even out the image. Canon has better processing for sure.

But, like Toni1 said- we'll have to wait for those resolution charts to actually see how they stack up.

Rule number one- read all the posts before asking a question.

Rule number two- always remember rule number one.

Rule number three- when you still can't find the answer read rule number two.

Rule number four- If you post and STILL don't know the answer- read rule number three.
