Default Capturing HDV through firewire, Is Kona needed?

Hi,
If I capture HDV through firewire, edit HDV and final output is SD Beta Sp, is correct to assume that I won?t need any HD card?
This is what I think, Capture HDV through firewire, edit native HDV on FCP, for monitoring (and recording) I?ll be going through the JVC HDV deck (via firewire), then to Beta SP (via analog output on the jvc deck), then to tv monitor.
Does it make sense? or would I have to get any Kona HD card?

Thanks

Default

Most HDV decks downconvert to analog. You should be able to record to beta without issue.
