Hello.
I have read that Sony Hdr-hc7 will have an external micinput i wounder what kind of microphone do you guys recomend for making a shortmovie? Im not a pro, so the price shouldnt be for pro user. what things should i think about before buying an external microphone? any advice? thanks :-) |

It should be what your looking for. Edit: If you're looking for a cheaper alternative you could get the ATR-55 |

If the in mic of my hc1 in a vocal concert (as far as 30 meters around 60 f) and the result are quiet good (same opinion on other forum) . Maybe an external micro is usefull for directivity for far sources ( if zooming works) .
If mic spécification of hc7 are the same as hc1 then OK. can upload a small part of concert if iterested |

The RODE is superb - and a very capable mic. Bit large for such a small camera, but will certainly deliver if sound quality is what you are after. This link should give you some ideas of how to mount a large mic - but you'll basically need a simple bracket:
