It does, kinda.

It's linked to the exposure, so lowering the exposure about 6 clicks to the left (from far right) should set the gain to 0. I think.

Try it- record video and on playback turn on the SHOW CAM INFO in the menu.

"Sorry, but I won't post video of my or anyone else's children on the web."

I often wonder why that is deemed to be such a bad idea? It seems to me that if the photos and or videos are of a simple and joyful nature, how can that harm those children? We see examples of children on TV everyday. How is the web different? I post my children and grandchildren on my vlog.

"Somebody testes/saw footage of moving objects "

First of all- nobody's testes are discussed here- unless you are talking of HC7's masculinity.
Second- it's not where the muscle is.
Third, Sony is bringing shame upon itself with the latest offering. Under-delivering on purpose.

About developement- If sony would include features like gain control that I wish for, I woud not consider more expensive cams.
Isn't Exposure equals to Iris on the hc7?

Has someone an idea of how big difference in low light quality there is between the hc7 and a Canon DM2 (dvcam)? My wife wants a smaller camera and I do lots of low light recordings... On the DM2 I have used 1/30s with good results (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QZ1xlOmzKU0).

Speaking of low light performance, I am currently considering buying either the HC7 or the SR300. Both cameras appear to have the same Cmos sensor and the same effective video pixels. Is it safe to assume that the cameras would have comparable low light performance?
