miniDv is better than sd and HD

when using sd or hd the movie already is compressed and after you copy it on ur computer and burn your final dvd you will end up with a loss in image

for the minidv the bitrate is 25mb (which it`ll eventually get to 8mb bitrate after is burn on a dvd, depending on what format you use)

botton line , if you want more flexibility miniDV is the best option!

Default I guess HC7

The reasons why I think the HC7 would be better are:

HC7 is HD so it needs a better lens.
It shoots in xvcolor something which has 1.8x more color than normal sRGB.
It is a later model and the CHANCES for it being better are higher.

I think its a good question.

Reasons to buy GS500: Both are miniDV, the HC7 uses more advanced compression which makes motion not as smooth. The xv color is something that no television can display, so it is pointless. And I have read that the HC7 is slow to focus, and low light capabilty is poor. The GS500 gives you 3CCD's which gives you more accurate colors in low light.

Reasons to buy HC7: You can't buy a GS500. This is the camera I wanted, but you can't get it anymore, unless from Japan. I believe the picture from an HD camera will look better in SD because it is starting with a high resolution picture and scaling it down. (Download the SD footage from the Canon HV10 on the Canon US website) And the main reason is the price of the HC7 is getting close to the price the GS500 used to sell for. I think this is why Panasonic dropped it. HC7, HV10, and HV20 produce insane video for near the same price. It is also nice to have HD capability in your back pocket.

I am now glad that I was unable to buy a GS500 because I would have been kicking myself now after seeing video footage from the new HD camera's. I think the question is HC7 vs. HV20.
