Default Hv20 In Hand. First Impressions.

OK, I just got my HV20 a few hours ago and I thought I would show everyone some pictures of it and my first impressions. The camera is lighter then in looks that's good and bad. It feels a little cheap and hollow and I wish they used more metal parts like their digital cameras but it fits my hand like a glove. The zoom toggle switch is kind of strange Canon can certainly improve on this. OK, enough of the bad, the good news is the picture is amazing! The low light is better then my Panasonic GS200 3CCD Standard Def camera. Know one will be let down by the image quality of this camera. Enjoy the pictures below and stop by the Video download section for some of my first videos with this amazing camera. If anyone has a specific request for Videos or stills of this camera please respond to this post and I will get them for you.

Jae

Jae,
I am not sure if you found this to be a problem.
After messing around with closing the rear plastic cover over the HDMI outlet I figured out how they must of designed it. If you leave the bottom part of the cover out and push in on the top right corner then slide your finger down towards the bottom pushing in it snaps in place. I did upload a video but I am not sure about the output quality. I am using Adobe Premier 3 (hope presets are correct). I am new to this. One thing that does amaze me is the video quality. The output via HDMI direct to my HD TV is very close to the HD broadcast via Sat Tv.

Yes, the cover over the HDMI is kind of strange. You have to play with it to get it to go back in just right.

I am using Sony Vegas 7 to transfer the video straight from the camera. It saves them as .M2T files to your computer. This is the most pure form of file from the camera. I am not sure if Adobe Premier does this or not. I like vegas a lot better then Premier.

It looks like some of my videos are posted now under the HV20. Download some and let me know how they are. I got a bunch more I will upload tomorrow from work. I have 2 T1 lines there so I can upload a lot faster then at home.

Hi,
pud77, y-ler ,you should have thanked jauelpo for the uploads and not me as you have done so. Remember to press "Thanks" below the post of the user.

You may remove the Thanks given to me ( as personally I don't think the post I have made in this thread deserve any thanks) and rethank jaeulpo ,below his post.

jaelupo, are you able to edit the .mt2 24p files in their original captured form directly in Vegas 7 or do you have to convert them to some other format? Thanks.

Rsen,

I uploaded a lowlight clip last night, it is on the video page now. I will upload some more when I get a chance.

Regarding the lowlight performance of this camera; it is amazing! My last camera was a Panasonic GS200 3CCD Standard Def camera and this Canon just blows the 3CCDs out of the water for lowlight. I find that the 24p mode works the best for lowlight situations. This with all the other settings on auto. I still have not messed with the manual controls too much and I am very happy with this little camera.
