Side by side is realy a must, I did not find a huge difference in resolution, colour. Of course the moving monkey in better delt with at 60i. The clock at 24p seems sometimes to be out of focus ( maybe its only its hand movement artefact because you didn't stabilise with tripode ) |

I actually see now more difference in noise compared to the previous HC7 comparison clip. Provided they are both focused correctly (looks that way at least most of the time) the 24p is sharper and has less noise. Noticeable difference in luminance noise here: - Look at the green shelf (or book) on the right - Look at the wall on the right side - Look at the white 'star wars' label. Clearly more noise and less sharp It's easier to spot in a still picture since noise cancels out slightly in multiple frames. But I still can see it playing back. The luminance noise is for certain colors easier to spot. This does match camcorderinfo still shots I think. It's not dramatic perhaps but on a big projector screen you would notice it better (like the mosquito noise effect). The 24p certainly suffer more from interlacing effects. But if you play it back and enable deinterlacing it looks just fine. Fortunately neither mode suffers a lot from chroma noise. That probably will kick in when it's darker. Not sure if it's worth the trouble to switch between 60i and 24p (when dark) since there are downsides with 24p (panning for instance). But for important videos it's nice to have (and if you don't need to pan and perhaps have a tripod). |
