Default Would you recomend the HV20 to a novice?

Hi I just wondered would you recommend the HV20 to a novice? I'm a novice in terms of camcorders but familiar with creating dvds and working in Adobe After Effects.... as I run my own small design company specialising in 3D graphics.

I'm looking for a HD cam to grab some footage for projects on a low budget do you think the HV20 would be something I could pick up easily quickly for the basics?

Thanks for your advice

Simon

I really can't see any good reason why not (unless you're trying to avoid tape-based cameras). It's affordable and produces a very nice picture (from what I've seen online). However, I would definitely NOT buy this camera without first getting your hands on it and trying it out.

Thanks for your help diggadonkey, I think I will spend some time looking at the other options as well, I just wish there were better Hard Drive options out there!

Well, there's the infamous JVC GZ-HD7 that we're all patiently waiting to roll out. I won't purchase anything until I've had a chance to compare this with the Canon HV20. I know it will cost more, but it will have both a 60g HDD and the option to record to SD cards. It will surely have more manual controls as well. Decisions... decisions...
