HC7 has a better zoom rocker.
It looks better. Has less plastic in the body. Has a seemingly softer picture. A lot more noise in dark. The ugly Sony color palette. Unnatural color reproduction. It has the horrible Sony image processing. Average mic. ANNOYING picture quality HV20. No LANC Bad zoom rocker Bad LCD Cheap plastic build Cheap batteries Manual focus to trash 24p mode EXCELLENT picture quality |

I tested both camcorder at Fry (www.frys.com). HC7 is much better on treat with shaking video way better than HV20. I also purchased one for myself.
