I noticed on most samples that the HV20 records the motor tape (6-8kHz).
Anyone found a solution? I've heard the Canon external mic still records it. Any other small mic options? |

I wonder if it varies per unit or if there are other factors like type of tape (and beginning or end of tape). |

I've got the Canon DM-50 external mic for my HV20. For outdoor shots, I don't have any issue with motor noise or zoom noise. Indoors, I don't tend to hear motor noise, but occasionally pickup some zoom noise, at least in some small rooms. I have been more focused on the video quality right now than the audio, so some of it I might have just been ignoring. Overall I really love this little camera!

See this thread: http://dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?p=655685
Seems it's noisy but probably you need to set the ATTENUATOR to on. I'll probably either try to lower the volume (if it still records everything else:-), or try sound filter processing on the PC. |

Yes you can do that. See manual for details. Best to use headphones to adjust the rec volume (which you can adjust as well). If you use a microphone you may also need to turn on the attenuator.
