The OIS works good I would not say great but you have to know these systems have limitations and can only be so good. I have shot almost all of my footage without a tripod so all of the sample clips you see in the download section have OIS on and no tripod. I will try and upload a walking clip so you guys can see the quality of the OIS while walking with the camera. The few walking clips I have shot look good for such a small camcorder.

I just found out last night that you shouldn't chew gum and use your HV20 at the same time. Every clip that I shot all I can here is me chewing gum. Since the mics are on the top of the camera it hears everything the operator is doing. This is a bad design as well because it picks up the camera operator better then the subject? Just a heads up!

I don't hear any motor noise when zooming but most of my footage is shot outside with background noise so it is hard to heat the motor. I will test it in a quite room and see if I hear it on the recording and get back to you. I will tell you it is not much if anything because I have not noticed it to this point.

BJ,
I use Vegas 7 to edit all of my video and find it to be one of the best video editing softwares out there. In fact it works so well with the camera I have not even open the CD that came with the camera. I will take a look at the software that came with it over the weekend and report back. Jae |

Thanks jaelupo for all these useful information.
I'm going to buy HV20 either today or tomorrow and just wondering does yours support (PAL/NTSC) or just one of them? and from where did you buy it? Thanks a lot ![]() |

I just discovered something else that bugs me about the camera. Unless you put the camera in manual mode you can't make any changes to the settings, even the backlighting can not be turned on unless you switch to manual mode. I am not sure why this is done but when they say auto mode they mean auto. The only thing you can change in auto mode is 1080i or 24p. Everything else is locked. Not a big deal but it bugs!
