i should be getting my HV20 tomorrow. I am planning on taking video of my band and running the audio direct from my mixer to the "mic in" input.

this is the deal. output of the board is XLR mono. input of the cam is 3.5mm stereo. i obviously want the feed to get to both the L/R input of the cam. also, if i am about 50' away, i want the signal 'balanced' don't i?

here is my idea.... i have several mic cables and a couple DI (direct boxes) layin' around. can i run a stereo 3.5mm to 1/4" mono cable into a DI and the DI to the output of my mixer? this is kind of going BACKWARDS with the DI. not sure if they will work this way? i have both an active Countryman DI and a Whirlwind DI that is not active (requires no power) on hand for spares.

if this method will work, i prefer to use it since i have all the materials. if not, please recommend to me what i need. i would like to stay wired, not wireless. this is a 1 time deal on a limited budget.

Watch your output levels. My mixers all output several volts, which is much too high for the camera mic input's millivolt needs. I have run output through attenuating connectors that I got at Radio Shack. I don't know if they are still available, but they do make some attenuating cables that may work. These adapters and cables bring line levels down to microphone levels.
