Default JVC HD7 review on camcorderinfo.com

According to the review if you consider only video quality Canon HV20 and even Sony HC7 in a better choice

Looks like the HV20 is still a better choice! I feel better now after reading that review and buying my HV20 a month ago. Looks like JVC dropped the ball again.

It seems so odd to me that JVC couldn't match the quality of the HV20 with that kind of specs.

This was a real shock to find out that the HD7's video performance is worse than that of the HC7 and HV20 since I expected the 3 chips to help it achieve best results and the 30Mps bit rate which is faster than HDV's bit rate. I dont understand how a camcorder that looks so good on paper can turn out to be such a flop. But I guess JVC is a specialist in doing this.

Right, technical specifications is one thing and outcome is what makes the difference

hm probably canon takes pro technology that slowly becomes old and implements it in consumer stuff. they also have huge experience with pro photography and presumably, they benefit from it.
