Recommendations on video cameras? - Techwatch: Satellite TV forums, FTA, Cable, Hardware, & Tech forums

I'm keeping an eye out for a decent quality video camera/camcorder, with really good picture quality for making amateur films. Not sure what my choices are, but if anyone knows any good sites/resources to compare a few, plus a few product models to possibly research, would certainly be welcome.
