Well after reading so many posts, I've come to the conclusion that its either one of the two mentioned in the title.
Now as I understand it, they both do the same/similar job. And as I have a WS HDTV, this probably rules out the Eurovox, due to its limitations with regards to WS TV's. It also seems that the Eurovox is easier to install and run (more user friendly), whereas the DB isn't, but the DB is more upgradable etc. Am I right in thinking I ought to go for the DB? Or have I got the wrong impression about either box? Any thoughts either way? And as I live not too far distant from LincSat I'm hoping they have both to choose from etc. ![]() TIA |

You may be better looking at the Dreambox DM600C rather than the 500, it's newer and better to fit a hard drive to - also less clones around. They are more expensive, but I'm told they are worth it.
I'm not trying to make more money, I don't have any Dreambox, I only have the Eurovox ![]()

Thanks for the info.
One other box that seems be gaining a lot of interest is the Itgate black pearl, any thoughts on that one? It says that its the only box, so far, that's Nagra 2 capable. Is this something that the other boxes will be capable of doing, using some kind of update? Or would it necessitate buying a newer box? Apologies for asking, but it seems choosing the right box isn't as straight forward as I had imagined. |

AIUI, The Itgate is another Linux box, like the Dreambox and D-Box. I know the Dream and D-box are both Nagra2 capable as the satellite versions already have that.
Most Linux boxes have the option to install different Cam's to decode different encryption formats. I'm not sure how open the source code is for the Itgate, certainly the Neutrino source (CVS) for the D-Box and Dream is open to anyone. The D-Box has been out of production for years, it's still going strong and is probably still the best. The Dreambox has a faster processor and has more potential. I suppose the question is - Do you want simple or Potential?
