hey,

i've had my eurovox max since dec 06 and so far, have never bothered with updates. if it ain't broke, why fix it etc......

but i want to try the new update, so need to get me a cable to hook my lappy upto my box.

now, the only 'port' i have on my laptop is for an external monitor and a couple of USB's.

i'm assuming the standard nul modem cable i've been looking at won't work, as i don't think i've got a COM port, so will a usb to com work ???

seen them on a few sites, but am after a bit of advice before i buy one......so, will i be able to update using a usb stylee cable ???

Get one of these to create a serial port, then just connect your null modem cable up to it as though it were a real serial port.

yes that will work

but searching for something like 'USB to RS232' on an online auction site will find you some cheaper options.
