so this file can be used on both the Ambit-NTL-250's and webstar-2100's
if this firmware can be used on the ntl-250 will it be ok to use in a telewst area or will the 250 have to be loaded with the infinate firmware |

Hihi
Quote:
Also adding support for webstar and surfboards 4100/4200/5100 since people have kindly donated those modems for me to add the support! There will be additionally a 'generic' option which might (and I emphasise might) work with other unsupported modems/firmwares as long as they work in the same basic way [Censored by order of vBulletin] <- there's a (somewhat out of date now) picture of the new one, such as it is. (edit, okay, there isn't, since this oh so useful forum software won't let me post links to images... reassemble this link if you want to see it: www DOT pokenet DOT co DOT uk SLASH misc SLASH tool-098-pre5 DOT jpg ) Incidentally, the MAC scanner in 0.97/0.971 will stop working soon (22nd Feb) as a result of a server move, however it'll be working again once 0.98 is out |

Hi boogeyman, sorry if I bother you but I've seen that you could help me to solve my dilemma.
I currently have a Scientific Atlanta modem and a 2Mb broadband connection with VM. A friend of mine gave me an Ambit 255, I was wondering if I could change the MAC address to match it to my Scientific Atlanta modem and get higher speed. If it is possible, could you please tell me step by step how to do it. Many thanks for you reply. Last edited by dragon_ball; 11-03-08 at 01:23 AM. |

Hihi
Yes, you can. However it'd be less risky to use a different mac address (if you catch my meaning) since they seem to be fiddling atm and they clearly have some way of detecting bad modems that I can't explain because they keep passing dodgy DNS to mine despite them running genuine firmware (!) You really shouldn't use your own MAC anyway since if there is something detectable about the other modem, there'll be nothing to stop you getting your door kicked in, heh -.o |

Hi Hideki, thanks for the reply. I tried to use the Ambit 255 as it is. I connected it to my VM cable and the "send" light was on as well but no IP was assigned to my PC. What shall I do with this modem?
