Default Re: Cable Modem gone down in my area.

Firstly. My appologies about the previous post. i was in a major hurry at the time of writing.

It seems perhaps that vm may have another trick up their sleeves.
I have tried 4 different modems 2 x250 and 2x255, the 255s are flashed with the original 250hack_dump_telnet.bin and the 250's are flashed with the new infinit-dump-new.bin.

All of them get a connection for about 1 - 2mins then it goes soo slow..... google wont even load.

I have a 250 with original software which is working perfectly. (so i know my feeds are fine.)

All of the macs being used are good and recent.

Serial number is same as mac without colons.

Snmp remote password changed.

Usb mac = mac +1 hex eg 1234a6 = 1234a7

Im not forcing a config.

Is there anything i have missed?

Oh yeah.... I can ping google.com or msn.com but i get 50% packet loss. Packets time out.

Could it be caused by some other kind of firmware detection or have i just missed someting critical.

1 thing i havent used is the Infinite-Upgrade.bin. This file is only 844kb.
Where exactly does this file go?
I was dubious about flashing it to a modem, as a standard single image for the 250 is 960kb (64kb larger) didn't fancy another brick.
If it is an image file for the 250 which one is it? Image 1 or image 2? *********

Perhaps this may be my problem?

Hope you can shed some light.

Thanks

Mick.

******* I have now found out that image 1 and 2 are the same, ill try the Upgrade file later.

Is there a command from hyperterminal to program the flash using tftp instead of using softJtag because it takes ages?

That might be handy for my other modem, do you have any links for the programs?

Are you in an area with the random config file names?

I've heard in those area's the best bet is to use the shelled firmware (5100.bin). You need to revert to original firmware first then use the "How to flash an unmodified virgin modem to work on original firmware" files in the downloads section.

Yes we are on encrypted configs.

I am now using the shelled version and original firmware.
I am now having another problem with the originals.
They work for like 2 hours then goto 1k up 1k down.
I have 1 thats worked and is still working after about a week.
I am changing the macs to known good macs, disable config forcing ect. (followed Adam/Jolly Bodgers tut exactly) i am also changing my NIC MAC each time i use a new CM MAC, otherwise i get 1k up 1k down strait away.
Is there any other way vm could be detecting the modems?

Its driving me insane, any help would be a god send.

Thanks in advance

Mick

ive read on various forums now that you can use the old config names they are working again for some reason. Although im using cmbus-pkg2-nat-any.cm - 10MB Down 769k up at the minite which is a new one. though thats a national config so ex c/w telewest and pure should be able to use that. i found it on another forum posted by Cableguy69 so all thanks to him.

Thanks for that 5av. Are you forcing this config?

Iv had yet another prob this morning. Any modem i use no matter which firmware or mac or whatever i use i just get DHCP sent No Offer recieved. i have tried many conifgurations of firmware mac ect to no avail. I had one 250 done with adams original hack. its ben working throughout the ECMs but this morning its gone off, stating that "Critical - NO OFFER RECIEVED"

Is this another countermeasure from VM..... looks that way. any thoughts?

I have been using the config that goes with the mac tho, do you think forcing the one your using would work?

Thanks again 5av

I eagerly await your reply.

Exclamation Re: Cable Modem gone down in my area.

Hi guys

OK, I think I'm having the same problem as you lot

My patched 250 Modem stopped working the day before yesterday I'm on my paid normal modem now.

I don't know a thing about cable modems except setting up the way Lincsat taught me and that is to enter the MAC from a PC in a different sector of the city I live in.

I tried that with a few other MACs (new ones) and it didn't work.

What do I do ???

Someone please help I checked with 250 configurator tool, and I am able to login into my modem if that helps

Please someone help me

Tee this might annoy you a little and I am sorry

But can you send a link to the exact page where I have to read, I'm really confused

If I do what this page (h) says will my modem work ??

I watched the video, but it is too small, I can't see what programe he is opening, and what he has done prior to opening the programe
