Default Cable Modem gone down in my area.

My supplier reckons that they have cracked down on them. It only went off about 10 minutes ago. Im sooo pissed off now.
I have the motorola sb5101 and the 2nd from the bottom light just keeps flashing on and off now and then.

Anyone else happend in EX C&W areas?

ex C&W areas are having a crackdown, basically on your next modem change the username / password and also see if you can change the serial number.

There is supposed to be a "fix" for bricked modems but it has not been 100% confirmed yet, theres mixed reports

The Infinite firmware on the 250/255 modems was zapped. Don't know about the SB5101's - If it's zapped, you should be able to JTAG it back to life.

Its going to be a country wide purge i'm afraid. If you have a hacked modem i would switch it off and leave it off for a few weeks and then hopefully it will still work when all of this has passsed

Cheers

I would imaging a few repair services will appear, currently, the only one I've seen is more expensive than buying a new modem.

Hey just thought id reply back to my issue. My supplier was able to unbrick my modem and he says that Virgin Media shouldnt be able to brick it again as he has changed the Telnet User and Pass. If anyone can do this to their own modem then id reccomend doing it asap.
My supplier is also saying that they might be flagging MAC addresses and changing the speed to 1K, so he says that "I" should change my MAC maybe once every two days but being able to alternate between 3 - 4 MACs rather than getting a new one every day.
Hope this will help other people

How much did he charge to un-brick the modem? the same as a new modem perhaps
