Default which cable

hi all,
i have a db 7020 thats been in it's box since i got it about a year ago
i have now decided to have ago at setting it up, i have a thompson 585 modem
which is connected to the only ethernet port on my computer and i want
to connect from one of the ports on the modem to the receiver
can you advise which cable do i need to connect from
my modem to a db 7020 is it a straight or crossover cable. then i can
load a image on the box etc: and i hope i can come back with more questions
if and when i get myself into a corner with this box
also do i need a null modem cable with this receiver?

You really need to check your router for the cable type. My D-Link router allows either straight or X-over cable. I think the normal for non-auto MDI/MDIX ports is a straight cable.

You may at some stage need a null modem cable if you ever lose the Dreambox IP setting. However, the 7020 is less likely to need one because it auto locates the address.

many thanks for your advice but it does.nt give much info on the modem
apart from thomson speedtoutch 585 v6 and it has four ethernet ports
iv'e got a pdf file user guide and i'm hoping that might give me a some info.
