Default Advice on multi-LNB dish

Hello everybody.

I'm fairly new to this game, though I did have an old Grundig pointing at Astra 1 a few years back.

I don't really want to get a motorised setup as it all looks too scary to install, and I only really want the digital channels on 19.2 and Hotbird (and anything else round about?) so I was thinking about a multi LNB setup.

A couple of people have recommended the Raven G90 as being suitable for this purpose.

Anybody care to comment? How many LNB's could I theoretically jam onto this dish?

I just want some alternative free viewing really, and some german channels for my son to learn the lingo for school.

Regards, the Weezer.

Default Re: Advice on multi-LNB dish

Yeah, the Raven Gemini dishes are very good, and come with a range of 'multiclamps' for the LNB's.

I've included a picture I found on one of the online retail stores. These dishes also come at a pretty attractive price, around £50 (without the fancy clamp).

I also nabbed the blurb from the manufacturer

Gemini antennas are designed with digital transmission in mind. Raven have changed the aspect of the antenna to reduce interference by lowering the sidelobes and narrowing the beamwidth. Compare the 3 degree isolation of a conventional compact dish (-9dB) to the Gemini 50cm(-14dB).

MULTI SATELLITE READY
Specific design criteria built-in to eliminate non-symmetrical illumination of offset focus feedhorns (e.g. for ASTRA and EUTELSAT dual illumination). Narrow beam and low sidelobes make Gemini the best choice for Motorised Systems.

HIGH EFFICIENCY
Tests show that the Gemini 70cm antenna performs exceptionally in areas considered unsuitable for anything but an 80cm dish.

Technical Details
Dimensions 89x80cm
F/D - 0.7
Offset Angle - 18.2°
Discrimination - >28dB
Elevation - 10 - 60°
Mast - 38 - 60mm
Efficiency - 72%
Feed Clamp - 40mm
Wind Load (Operational) - 100Km/hr
Wind Load (Survival)- 180Km/hr
Gain@11.7GHz - 38.4 dBi
-3db Beamwidth - 2°
-10db Beamwidth - 3.8°

From the picture, can obviously take 5 LNB's at least!
