LOL, cheeky? - yes - but it's in our minds to do just that. Maybe I'll move it up the list of things to do a tad for you

Hi vexorg
:welc3: I've just set one up for myself, so I've had a good chance to brush up on the theory. I've got 19.2E, 13E, 7E and 1W on a Triax TD110, with the last LNB switchable to a motorised dish covering 28.2E to 30W. Multi-LNB setups are all about compromise, and there is no simple textbook way to set them up. It also takes a good deal of thought and planning, including your choice of dish. If you can tell us exactly which satellites you want, we can at least give you some pointers. I suppose it'll also give me the kick up the bum I need to write the FAQ, but I can't promise anything as I'm mega busy at the moment. Give us your thoughts as to which satellites you fancy, whereabouts in Ireland you are and what hardware you have etc. and I'll see if the old grey-matter can conjure something up ![]() STICK

Hiya to both vexorg and Weezer,
I've also recently set up a Mutli LNB system covering 28.2E, 19.2E and 13E. I've gone for the 90cm Triax dish with their Multi LNB bracket.* As a picture can type better than I can there are a few piccies in the photo gallery section which shows the dish and bracket etc.The bracket covers about 20 degrees ie :-* http://www.satellitesuperstore.com/multisat.htm Any specific questions then please ask ![]() ![]() Bilbo

Has anybody modified a multi lnb holder e.g Triax 20 degree Multi Bracket to fit a Zone 2(60cm) minidish to receive 28.2e,13.0e and 19.2 e and maybe an additional position(or is that asking too much).
Is this possible, before anybody says buy a bigger dish,it's not on the list for now, maybe somewhere down the line. Thanks. |

I think that making your own bracket is very plausible, but that a 15.2 degree spread on a 60cm dish, especially a Sky dish (which is optimised for a single satellite, and for a 'Sky' LNB) is asking way too much.
You might manage 19.2E and 13E though if you're lucky.

Thanks for that input BGonaSTICK.
Actually,I was thinking of replacing the "sky" quad lnb with the slimline Alps ones single and quad,if i managed to modify the multi lnb holder to fit.would that be a better or easier solution. Think I will try with just two satellites. |

The problem is that Sky dishes are designed for Sky LNB's. They are matched and optimised to each other. Sky LNB's also have the skew built-in for 28.2E, and the dish tends to be wider than it's tall - the opposite of a normal offset dish.
Dishes are designed to be illuminated precisely by the LNB, and the feedhorn is shaped and orientated to do that precisely. Sky dishes and LNB's are tuned to the max to give the best performance for the smallest size. Generally, mixing and matching dishes and LNB's is not ideal. Universal LNB's with built-in feedhorns should always be outperformed by a C120 type LNB and a separate feedhorn matched to the dish face (if there is one available). Having said all that, you can usually get away with it if you have a good margin between received signal strength and minimum required signal strength. Zone 2 dishes are better than zone 1, but still not ideal. I also just found this thread, answered by some right dodgy geezer... ![]() _http://www.totalfourvideo.com/Dual-feed-setup-on-zone-2-minidish-48790x818.htm
