Anyone have one of these devices? They are pretty cool. First of all they are very small and you can hook them right into the back of your entertainment system and then into your home network.
From there you can get a client on your laptop or desktop at work and you can watch whatever is on your tv at home. They use their own proprietary encoding and it works reall well. You can get a fairly glitch free picture with about 700k outbound. I also just read they are coming out with a Windows Mobile Pocket PC version and later on this year a version for the Mac. The coolest thing about it is you can also control your tv and pvr via remote control. I can actually schedule new recordings, change channels, and look through my entire tivo when at work or at the airport. Best part no monthly fees. Sorry for sounding like an infomercial, but this device is seriously cool. Anyways I found a site with some more info at http://www.slingboxers.com |

Neat-o. My uncle has one. He took me to the airport once and we watched Wheel-of-Fortune, Then Mickey Mouse later. I think it is worth it. Espically considering lots of people spend time away from home on their computers.

Yeah there's not much good stuff on the TV these days, some shows here and there that I like to follow, other than that not much.
I guess you could enjoy movies though on it, after a long trip at the airport or in the train. |

Actually yes. At least very soon. Sling Media has recently announced they will have clients for both the Macintosh and for Windows Mobile OS. So you will be able to watch it on your Pocket PC, for example as you roam around. Pretty neat. I am a TV junky myself. I think I have 9 TiVos working and not working. Funny thing is since I got so into all my TiVos I watch substantially less tv, because it is so much more efficient now. |
