FBI v warez sites Thought you may be interested in this story which is headline news here in Western Ausralia as it involves a local man. Apparently the FBI acted as the server for a warez site so they were aware of what was going on. This is the report from ABC:- A 26-year-old Perth man has been ordered to appear in a court in the United States to face charges of pirating more than $8 million worth of computer software, games and movies. The US Department of Justice alleges 26-year-old Sean Patrick O'Toole is the ringleader of a group that has been operating in more than 10 countries distributing pirated works via the Internet. He is one of 19 people who have been charged with conspiracy to commit copyright infringement. An Australian Federal Police spokesman has confirmed Mr O'Toole's Mount Pleasant home was raided in June last year, but says no charges have been laid in Australia. US Assistant Attorney Pravin Rao says the group has been ordered to appear in court in Chicago on February 8. "They're supposed to announce what their plea is, whether it's a plea of guilty or a plea of not guilty if someone does not show up it is possible the court could issue a bench warrant for their arrest," he said. Mr Rao says authorities will consider extradition if Mr O'Toole fails to appear in court
