I have had a SkyStar 2 card for about a couple of years and in the early days I used it quite a lot to watch tv on my PC.
I bought a Dreambox and since then I have used VLC to watch tv on my PC. I have recently tried to use my SS2 but all I can get is a blank screen. I have tried ProgDVB, MyTheatre, and several other progs. I am getting a good signal strength indicated at the bottom of the screen window. Any ideas as to what might be wrong?

I am not geting any fta channels.
I think the drivers are installed correctly but perhaps they are not. Drivers. SS2 drivers version 4,03,02,9999 ProgDVB version 4.26.4 I have tried the latest versions of ProgDVB and MyTheatre and AltDVB but all give a blank screen. I am not getting any error messages and, other than a blank screen, things seem to working correctly. I imagine from the lack of picture that the fault lies with the SS2 drivers.

Been really busy this week with one thing and another.
I'll see if I can't get the how-to sorted in the next few days and get you up and running. I suspect that it's not the drivers themselves, but some other supporting software that gets installed on the distro CD, or maybe the mpeg2 decoders themselves. Download the latest install pack from Technisat here: http://www.technisat.com/?site=servi...ID=1281&reload ...and you may want to get a copy of PowerDVD 5.0 or later, as it contains heaps of codecs and is the perfect tool for playing back any recorded content from the skystar 2 card. I would also download and keep ProgDVB version 4.56.2 from http://www.progdvb.com/download.htm while you can. It's the last version before a major re-write which, whilst making some dramatic improvements to the video engine architecture, has done little for overall program stability. SH |

Thanks for those links. I have downloaded the files and will try them out after a good nights sleep.

Just to keep you all up to date, I have deleted everything and reinstalled the drivers, ProgDVB and am now getting all fta channels. All I need to do now is sort out my friendly configs.

Good news
![]() The Elecard codecs should come with the later versions of ProgDVB IIRC, but it's an option that you can toggle in the options menu or wherever. Just chuck S2emu.dll, S2emu.ini and softcam.key into the ProgDVB root folder and you're done. S2emu V1.20 is the latest unless I've missed one. STICK

![]() I have managed to find a bit of time and have it almost to my liking. I've now got it reading the card in my dreambox so things are looking up.

OK, that sounds good. Give us a bit more detail. What is reading the card and how? A card in the reader slot? Which emu client are you running on the PC? What server on the Dreambox?
