Default CLOSED. Pictures of members dish/receiver setups please!

'Cmon folks, post-up some pictures of your satellite hardware. It's always nice to see a few pictures of what other people are doing

Don't be embarrassed if it doesn't look too professional, just take a look at some of our setups and you'll see we're not fussy!

Alright then.* I hung out of the window at great personal risk for this one.* Doesn't show very well without daylight on it, but the rust is pretty evident.
Ok here's one I did later in daylight so you can see it.

The pic with the 3 dishes shows a 43cm zone 1 Sky dish, which is used for experiments to see what I can get. (Normally lives in the coal shed! but may go onto 5W when Ive got a few minutes and get a warm weekend.)
The middle dish is a secondhand 80cm dish which spends most of its life on 19E, although being mobile has seen service on most of the other satellites too. The dish on the fence is another secondhand 80cm dish which is locked off onto 13E. (this is out of date as there are now 3x80cm and a 1m here - pics when it stops raining!)

The wall mounted dish is a second hand 60cm ex Sky analogue dish - originally from my parents house. It was rescued when they went digital) , It currently has a twin LNB on it, although I have plans to put a quad on it. One feed to the Digibox, the other to aTechnomate in the bedroom. Looking of course at 28E.

Our AV kit - Panasonic 28" widescreen tv. Top of the pile of boxes is the Grundig GDS3000 digibox. Then there is a Panasonic video recorder, the Echostar 3000IPVA, and a Panasonic DVD player / Home Theatre System.

The digibox and video sound outputs are wired up to the HTS, so I can listen to Planet Rock (Sky 861) and wind the volume up loud

Also in pic are 2 Digisenders - one on the Sky box, the other on the Echostar, so we can watch Sky in the kitchen, and the Echostar in bed.* And finally an Aiwa music centre.

Ahhh, cool. Loving those snaps

I'm too embarrassed to repost anymore of my pics ATM. I think you all get a flavour from those in the other thread ops:

In the spring/summer, I plan to install a more permanant setup. On the very corner of my house I'm going to install a heavy-duty patio stand, and extend the height by maybe ten feet with a 2" steel scaffold pole. I'm going to bolt the top of it to the wall where my minidish is currently fixed with a small but tough custom-made bracket, and designed to be adjustable for vertical alignment of the main pole.

Then I'm going to re-install the minidish about four feet off the ground and fit a quad LNB, install my Triax TD110 on a polar mount with a 36V actuator about 6 feet off the ground (though I'm still toying with swapping it for a CM1.2) and then at ten/twelve feet (wherever it works out) my trusty Triax TD88 on the SG2100. I know I'm going to have to offset the polar mount from the main pole and shoehorn a small actuator in somehow.

The Sky dish can see 28.2E from low down, so no problem there. The 1.1/1.2 36V dish as low as possible so that it can still cover 28E to 30W but so that it stays out of both the high winds (6 foot fences nearby) and neighbours view (6 foot fences nearby)!
The DiSEqC-driven TD88 can go a bit higher and be the only one on view. It'll stand the wind OK and should cover about 45E to maybe 50W.

Well, that's the plan anyway

Heres an up to date picture of the dishes in the back garden.

Left to right

1m on 16E. This one was new.
(on the tyre) 80 cm on 19E (donated from a lad I work with)
80cm on 13E (came out of the local woods and had been badly bent)
80cm on 5E (donated - had been jumped on by some kids....)

Very new to this game, more a radio listener. Anyway somebody moving house let me have their old sky set up with box
which you can see behind and higher up.* That went well and easy. I think I was a bit* lucky. No meter, but lots of neighbours along the rowe with Sky dishes.* Then I scrounged this big grey dish, more like volunterring as scrap collector as it had no boom. Dish size 105cm X97cm and 8.7 deep. So I made up something adjustable in wood, just to find focal length.* Can now make boom up in metal.* Want to mount 2nd LNB for Hotbird* 13E, main is now on Astra 1, and keep Sky dish for 28E. and DISEqc the 3 LNB's now to see if I can scrounge a switch, even though I see them for sale for Euro 14.
P.S. Yes thats a christmas tree stand, screwed to the footpath with wall-plugs. Sorry apart from Sky Box I bought a Topfield Fe4000 FTA on Ebay.ie for Euro50 incl.postage. That put me over budget for the rest of this year.

Fantastic!

Very ingenious.

A dish that size will do very well, and should get 19.2E and 13E on a multi-LNB arm in Ireland OK.

I think you did well to get your FTA receiver for €50 too. It would have been really hard work with a Sky digibox!

When you come to make up the final boom, you might find it easier to support it like the channel master dishes. There seems to be enough of a lip on the dish face to be able to secure some ties. There's a picture of one here.

Great project, thanks for sharing it with us Let us see the finished item!

Well the new dish is not yet operational. Got it just 4 hours. Posting it here will encourage me to keep the project moving. Have to go back tomorrow and get the mountings. And they are dam serious mountings as you may see from one of the fotos.

Your new toy looks suspiciously like a Channel Master 1.2m dish

Does it look the same from the back as Jimdefruit's dish earlier in this thread?

A wonderful dish that should outperform your existing stock of signal scoopers
