Just rediscovered this snippet of information which I found useful when I started trying to understand VLC streaming. It shows the layout and format of the streaming construct.
The required format is: dreamboxip:31339/0,PMT,VPID,APID,PCPRID e.g. I can enter 192.168.0.24:31339/0,0x76c,0x76d,0x76f,0x76d to view DigitALB 5 Regards STICK

Hi Stick,
If you just enter the dreambox IP in your browser, you can then select the satellite and channel and just click on the VPID number that is revealed. I can never remember the vpids so thats the way I do it. If you select control, you are presented with a picture of the remote control with which you can perform all of the dreambox controls at your pc.

Yeah, that's true, and the easier way to do it.
Some images (especially the older ones) don't have the VLC stuff built in, and IIRC can also have problems decoding the VPID via the web interface. I find it's useful to know what all that hexadecimal guff is I guess I'm just an old-fashioned hex-geek at heart... I also like to know what I'm dealing with so I can fix things when they bum-out! I remember some of the really early images had bu99er all on the web interface. Hark at me now. Sound like a real old fart! ![]()

Hi BG you dont need vlc on the dreambox, only on the pc.
As for playing with the codes etc, I think I will stop. I tried to install a major upgrade on XP Pro the other day, a version of sp3, and totally trashed my Raid operating system drives. XP didn't like it at all and my pc liked it even less. I have had to disconnect all my drives, reinstall windoze xp on a spare drive and then recover files one at a time via a usb hard drive. I am now almost back to square one and slapping my wrist every time I think of fiddling. I expect that will only last for a couple of days though. ![]()

Mind you, I don't know how it differs from the VPID link. They both seem to do the same thing.
