Hi,
Just found this site....superb.

I have a chance of getting a system for a bargain price it is a touchbox 3 receiver with a 85cm disc + lnb.
Is this system any good?
I want it fixed, probably Hotbird and Astra and im mainly interested in the football and any movies.
Are these systems upgradable and i notice a rs232 port on the back is this for updates?

Thats a Metronic box. It will get you started, but dont expect much in the way of patchability, (so unlikely to be much good for uk footy or English movies) The dish is a reasonable size and a monobloc lnb will give you astra 1 and Hotbird in one go using disecq switching (assuming it does disecq....)

Yes, it looks like Analoguesat is right as usual

It's an FTA box, so no cards or CAM's can be used, and I've never heard of a patch for it. I don't think it's a clone of anything else. It does DiSEqC 1.0 and 1.2 though.

When you say a bargain price, if it's in A1 as-new condition I reckon in all it's worth about £60 if it suits your needs, but it sounds like it doesn't.

You need a truly patchable box or something with a slot
