Changes to our Avatar management and collections

Hi folks.

Just wanted to let you know that I've recently spent a couple of hours sourcing some new avatars for our library. There are a few interesting and different ones in there now. Please have a rummage through and pick yourself out one. It makes the forum a bit more interesting, and it lets us get a feel for what kind of person you are

To change your avatar, click on the 'Profile' button in the forum header, and then 'Forum Profile Information' in the 'Modify Profile' box on the left. Select 'Personalized Picture' or 'I will upload my own picture' and chose your weapon. Don't forget to click the 'Change profile' button at the bottom of the page to save it. Also, while you're in there, please update your location with something fairly meaningful as it's important we have some idea where you are when we're offering help. In the satellite world, both size and location matter :spite:

Also, we have turned off the option to link to an avatar image elsewhere on the web. There are two reasons for this. The first is that some members may link to an avatar hosted elsewhere without asking permission from the owner (which amounts to bandwidth stealing).

The second is that if that image should, in the future, cease to exist (nothing's forever, right?) it will make the forum look pants.
