I have just bought a Lemon 030CI (or is it a lemon?) , 80cm Global Orbit dish, and sat finder(meter). All I wanted was something that would give me free to air in France when caravanning(sorry if you hate them). I have a Sky system at home that was proefessionally fitted but I did fit an analogue system about ten years without too many probs unlike now.
I have tried a temporary set up in the garden and get a loud screaming from the sat finder when the dish is pointed in a partticular direction and it peaks out when the dish is pitched up. The scale on the side of the dish doesn't seem to make any sense so trying to get the elevation angle is not easy. I ahve tried the recever on the skyu dish and it functions well. Do I have to spend loads on a pukka sat meter or what? Could I buy a motor that sorts everything out for me? |

Hi bob2bob
![]() Can be a little frustrating, can't it? Don't worry though, you'll get there. Without wanting to be patronising, once you've managed to manually find a few satellites, you'll wonder how you had so much trouble Half of it's a confidence thing. I'd be interested to know a little about your Lemon when you have it all sorted. They've become quite popular but I've never played with one. Personally I don't have a problem with caravans Anything you can stick a satellite dish on is cool with me :roflmao:Firstly, you definitely don't have to spend a fortune on an expensive meter. In fact you don't have to have one at all, but it does make it easier. You don't say what satellite you're after so I assume it's the 'Sky' satellite carrying BBC/ITV etc? A motor will allow you to move between satellites easier, but is more difficult to initially set-up, and is not suitable for a mobile caravan. There are special self-aligning antennae available but they're many hundreds of pounds. Your new dish should do you for France OK. Have a read in our beginners section for some basics, and get back to us with what you don't understand. You should be able to align your new dish pretty well by manually copying your minidish whilst in the garden. As a rough guide, your dish face should be vertical. You might want to try for one or two other satellites too! ![]() P.S. I'll move this into the General Support section.
