Default Tecnomate 1500ci super dolby digital

Hi , just a question about dolby digital on the 1500ci super, even thou the icon for dolby digital comes on the tm say on the german channel orf which does have a dolby digital soundtrack, I dont think the 1500 does do dolby digital, I connected the tm to my av 5.1 amp using coxial and making sure spidf was on on my tm , i tried skymovies which does do 5.1 souned but the tm did not decode the 5.1 soundtrack
just a standard 2.0 siignal even thou its suppsed to be in 5.1 and i did make sure the film was encoded in 5.1

has anyone else got a 5.1 set up , and if it works on their setup. I think its a fault in the tm softtware, any advice would help thanx.

Hi mjdj1689,
have you been into the receivers menu and set the sound settings? With Technomate I don't know if you can set the sound per channel or just the receiver settings, it's very difficult, so far impossible, to find a full online manual for Technomate, just a quick setup guide. Hopefully members, with Technomate receivers, can post helpful guides and we can make a how to and FAQ thread for all the Technomate range, as they sound great receivers for the money.
Best wishes
Mickha

If you have S/PDIF enabled in the firmware and everything cabled correctly then you should obviously get digital audio out of the coaxial digital audio output socket.

Nowhere can I find though that states that it's Dolby Digital 5.1 output. Whilst it's pretty misleading to NOT state it ISN'T DD, maybe that's the reality.

Have you found something other than the on-screen indicator that says it's DD 5.1? It might be able to detect it but not decode it.

You could of course be right about the firmware being fritzed, as Technomate don't even seem to be able to supply a flippin' electronic manual for it's STB's! >

One other thought, have you tried the various audio streams on the channels you're testing on to check for an AC3 version?

Love to hear your findings, as this is certainly going to become more of an issue as more AC3 comes online.

STICK

UPDATE: Actually, the Wotsat review included in this section states "The sound is passed perfectly by the digital audio output, and supports AC-3 encoding for Dolby Digital channels" so that blows that thought
