Hiya STICK

Found someone at work that's another satellite fanatic, motorised 1.1m dish the works, goods news is that he has bought the Humax 2000 and has given it the big thumbs up* and has been told Humax are releasing a patch by the end of this week....... he's gonna let me know as soon as he's got it and confirmed it decodes BBC ok.* He reckons the pictures are gobsmacking in HD, some of the loop transmissions are awsome

hopefully the world cup in HD creeps a step nearer !!!

Cool. Tell your m8 to get his butt over here and write us a review on it

We'd love to have his verdict.

Heard a lot of mixed reports on it myself. Some are a bit bitchy and picky and some really sing it's praises. Reading between the lines it sounds like basically a sound box, but is let down by the firmware.

At least it's the right way round. Firmware can be fixed!

Humax have promised fixes, and I only hope they're forthcoming for your sake and that of the many hundreds of buyers who are hanging on Humax's every word at the moment.

The word from deep within the bowels of Humax is that Premiere are not happy that the firmware for the STB's (both the HD-CI2000 and PR-1000 can run the same firmware, they're so similar - allegedly) will be patched to allow viewing of the BBC HD transmissions as it will take viewers away from their World Cup transmissions.

I get the feeling that Humax are a bit jumpy, as the Premiere contract is huge for them. I don't see that Premiere can dictate the functionality of the 2000 though, when they have their own custom build.

Flashing the 1000 with the 2000 firmware though should turn it into an HD-CI2000. Don't take my word for it, I'm just regurgitating what I read earlier today ops:

Anyway, I'm sure it will all come out in the wash. The good news is that I've also read accounts of more than one person watching Premiere HD channels - some with English audio on the HD-CI2000 using a cerebro card in a Dragon CAM.

Could be well worth doing for the extra £100 or so it would cost to get it up and running. The Premiere package is huge, and well worth the extra. It's been open on the cerebro card for a while, and looks fairly stable on the face of it.

One thing is for sure. For the discerning punter, HDTV is worth every penny.
