The America Channel gears up for launch from HOT BIRD™ and EUROBIRD™ 1 neighbourhoods



The America Channel, a new channel dedicated to exploring America, its communities and people has concluded a long-term distribution and services agreement with BT Americas for delivery via Eutelsat’s HOT BIRD™ and EUROBIRD™ 1 satellites.

BT will provide The America Channel with digital conversion, backhaul, multiplexing, technical support, customer service, encryption, programme origination, ad insertion, and uplink services, as well as capacity at the HOT BIRD™ and EUROBIRD™ 1 neighbourhoods which will bring the new network access to target markets in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.

Due for launch in 2006, the channel will broadcast free-to-air from both neighbourhoods and also plans to build up cable distribution from the HOT BIRD™ position.
