India's parliament is all set to launch its own television channel to bring people closer to the parliament. The Lok Sabha Television Transmission, an anchor-based new-look channel launching on 11 May, will be the first such television channel to be run fully by the legislature. In July this will be transformed into two 24 hour channels - one each for the lower and upper houses of parliament under the new Sansad (parliament) Television Network. Till now parliamentary proceedings were shown on the state television network Doordarshan
