Hmm, very interesting about not being able to have both 'standard' and 'non-standard' on the one box.
That doesn't tie up with the story about Premiere complaining to Humax about having the BBC compatability bundled with 'standard' HD capability. Something stinks here. Frankly I wouldn't touch either with a ****ty stick until they stop messing about. Nice of Sky to screw around with the BBC HD format without telling anyone though. Can't imagine why they would do that? :? : ![]() Satellite Superstore have a note on their site that the Pace 810 (which must be the XE I would have thought, as I don't think they would get a supply of the Premiere boxes) has been delayed until the end of may. BTW, can you tell us where you got the info in your post from? STICK

Hi Mr Ed and welcome to the forum*
![]() As you can tell already I'm sure you will get all the help you need from the people here !* as STICK has mentioned I am also chasing down the 'actual' facts regarding the Humax 2000. A friend at work has bought one and he will be giving me an update later in the week. I'll post it in the HDTV when I've got it* * *I'll ask him what he can currently see and post it here.![]() Bilbo

Hi ![]() My friend say he can pick up all the channels that are 'clear' shown here:- (except Sirus and Thor as he hasnt tried them yet) http://en.kingofsat.net/hdtv.php Here is a quote from his e-mail "HD1 on Astra aired the UEFA cup final in full last night - so I could switch to ITV and compare the SD version which was exactly the same footage - SD looked like looking through a muddy out of focus pair of glasses in comparison" ![]() I can't wait !! Thanks for the info Bilbo.
My info re Humax was from a lengthy post on avforums http://www.avforums.com/forums/showt...336223&page=27 As a post script here is the word from Humax UK 'Currently you are unable to detect the BBC HD channel on satellite due to the way it is being transmitted. The BBC channels are being up-linked to satellite by BSkyB, they are using a different format than the standard type. This is due to the agreed format used by other European Broadcasters not being agreed at the time BSkyB started their trial. We will be releasing new software for this model in the next 5-10 days. The software will be available to download from our HCSA website (download tool and instructions are the same as the UK models). We will also be releasing the software to download OTA (Over The Air) shortly after the website release. The OTA will be on ASTRA 1 (19.2°East) – this is not the Sky satellite We will be trying to have a download on ASTRA 2 (28.2°East) however this is not confirmed as we have never used a transponder for OTA on this satellite before. Details of the OTA’s will be available on our website in the future.' I still do want to pick up a box but not one that disables all non BBC HD. May even get the Humax but without the update....we'll see. |
