BSkyB is preparing a bid to run the National Lottery.
There is fierce competition to run the lottery, which has been held by the Camelot Group since it was founded in 1994. BSkyB is bidding for the ten-year licence from February 2009 and according to various reports BSkyB does to want to lead a bid but is interested in possibly being part of a bidding consortium. BSkyB already sells lottery tickets through Skybet, its betting channel. However, screening lottery draws on Sky One could boost its ratings. Camelot, the lottery operator, is reported to be the favourite to win the licence. Source: Various
