If you get channels on ASTRA satellite, there are plenty of HD channels. A complete list can be found here:

lo all,

I thought I better post an update on DVB-S2 on Linux, in case anyone was considering a purchase or similar.

At the moment it looks a long way away, although there has been progress since my last post. I would nevertheless still not recommend any purchases unless you are happy to use your card on Windows for an extended period. Even once the driver is complete there is no support in userspace applications, although I expect some friendly rivalry between apps to be the first S2 viewer on Linux will help this along once the time comes.

All the best,
Steve

Linux support is edging closer Politics seemed to be slowing things down but it appears that the issues have gone quiet, and thus there is lots of visible progress.

Also, from discussion on the newsgroups it appears that skystar HD is the same chipset as the tt s2-3200, and thus will also work with this driver

OK, that's interesting. If anyone can confirm this, or the cross-testing of drivers etc. it would be appreciated.

here were my sources:
http://www.linuxtv.org/pipermail/lin...ch/016825.html
http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/DVB-S2

So the tt s2-3200 says STB0899 + STB6100 + SAA7146 (PCI32, supports CI)
And from that user's feedback the Skystar HD has all three chipsets in common

Hats off to him for desoldering components! And the linked picture did exist a few months back.

I am considering upgrading my PC for satellite and am considering using this card with budget CI because of its HD and Media Center capabilities.

I want satellite for HD and for Sports, HD Sports if possible.

What are my options if I want to receive free English football?? Are there software patches availlable to unscramble these channels? Or are there hardware/programable CAM options?

I understand satellite but dont know much about software decryption? I dont uderstand Dragon/programable CAMs either

Please advise me

Thanks

Niall
