DREAMSOFT METABOX LOCKED OUT PLEASE HELP - Techwatch: Satellite TV forums, FTA, Cable, Hardware, & Tech forums

HI ALL
i am new to this forum and new to just about everything else regarding satelite receivers,while on holiday in tunisia i bought a receiver dreamsoft metabox on getting it home and installed everything was just fine,but then i updated the firmware it seems with the wrong file and now all i get on the led is !ON! it seems i am locked out and i can`t even reflash it because i cannot open the com port anymore,it does not respond to any key press on the remote control,and the only way i can switch off is by the switch on the rear of the unit,if anyone can help me on this it would be deeply appreciated

Ah - a common cry of distress....... Never ever try to flash your receiver with any software image unless

1) you are absolutely certain it is the correct one for your receiver
2) you accept if it goes wrong you may well runi a perfectly good receiver.

theres plenty of support and software tools available to folks who have bought direct from them.

It may be worth an email to them and see what they suggest.

It may be that your box has to be JTAGged, having the firmware chips reprogrammed in-situ. This can be fiddly, and may prove to be an uneconomic repair.

Sadly, it's too late to warn you of the dangers of flashing, but may hopefully serve to warn others.

The greatdvb site specifically mentions jtagging, so they are obviously set up for this.

thanks to everyone who has replyed to this post i have come to the conclusion that the box is knackered so i will have to get another one im looking at the technomate 7755 and it looks good enough and there website gives plenty of support so im going for this one,and hopefully i won`t do the same again,thanks again to everyone for there support
