Football mate.... I have had no problems watching the 4:2:2 feeds but I haven't got a clue how to get the MPEG-crypté feeds, I'm guessing you need some keys to watch or perhaps a plug-in?

Is someone going to put me out of my misery and give me a clue?

I don't understand what 'MPEG-crypté' is unless you just mean generically encrypted signals.

Give us some more details (transponder/channel details, satellite etc.) and your misery will most definitely be banished forever!

I can talk for hours though, so you better be prepared!

OK, that's just a generic term for encryption then.

In the case you mention, the encryption type is Viaccess.

There's still not enough information there to know what type of Viaccess encryption it is, as there are many incarnations that have appeared over time.

For a feed, you would need to analyse the transport stream to understand the exact encryption type and to then be able to work out if it was possible to decrypt it. Obviously it's illegal to do this, but if you're not worried about that, then there are several things you can try.

As far as your Skystar2 is concerned, you will need to be running a suitable piece of viewer software such as ProgDVB (which has the interface necessary to run 'MD plugins'), an emulator plugin such as S2emu or vplug, one or more key files and possibly some other support files.

If you want to try this, let us know and we can direct you to some websites which are not as scrupulously clean and legal as this one

It's a bit more tricky for feeds as they're a moving target, but you can get a feel as to whether they might available to the persistant hobbyist based on the encryption type and possibly the client (if known). More often than not, that's not going to happen.

I did manage to watch the Satmex launch the other night on a Viaccess 1 encrypted feed though.

The aim of satelliweb not being to pirate satellite feeds, there is no further information given about the type of encryption given, but you usually find people discussing it on the comments. It can be anything, but many times it's just professionnal coding systems not available to the end-user's set-top-boxes, like BISS or RAS, etc.

So theoretically of course you can view some encrypted feeds, if you have the right keys and the right support for your equipment (being usually vplug and the likes of it) for a skystar, etc.
