The proposed satellite broadcasting service by the Swaziland Television Authority will not only help to improve the currently tarnished image of the country regionally and beyond, but it will also promote investment and develop the tourism industry, writes the Swazi Observer. On Friday, the station presented a proposal for a joint effort in planning, organising and operating a satellite broadcasting system for Swazi television through a company known as View Africa. View Africa chief executive officer Rogers Gamuti stated that "Our company boasts 60 million viewers in Africa and one million in Europe. Judging from these statistics the country and its products can be easily marketed to other countries in terms of tourism." Those who attended the meeting included, amongst others, Minister of Economic planning Absalom Dlamini and Minister of Public Service and information Themba Msibi. A report prepared by Swaziland Television for this project states that the proposed joint venture could include the Ministry of Tourism and Communication, Swaziland Investment Authority(SIPA), MTN Swaziland, Swaziland Post and Telecommunications, Tibiyo Takangwane, King's office, Swaziland National Culture Council, Prime Minister's office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
