Read this thread to the end, it contains a lot of information, including the probable answer to your question:
http://www.satellitehelp.co.uk/forum...hp?topic=521.0 Normally you would start the PC process with the STB turned of at the mains, then switch on when prompted. HTH STICK

hi stick, ive read the link a few times now and it seems like i have the same problem as this chappy, i too have a bluetooth device that was installed and was taking over every available port so i have removed this item, ive also clicked on add new hardware and re-installed the com port, my settings seem to be all the sam as yours but in the resources tab on the far right of the screen after details it says "this device isnt using any resources because it has a problem" and in general it says "this device cannot start, code 10", this is on my com ports although i dont know if the serial port on the back has a specific com port number, in resources of the com port, in device manager it has a tab saying set configuration manually, could you post these settings please,
why are PC's never easy, plug and play, pfff, YEAH RIGHT, lol many thanks in advance james |

I would suggest that your Bluetooth device installation has messed with your default IRQ settings (i.e. hijacked them) and maybe other driver settings, both of which should really be automatically assigned by the BIOS and Windows these days. Are you using XP?
I've posted prints of the default settings for com ports 1 and 2. If you have a single serial port, then it should be com1, so just focus on that. Plug and Play has evolved over the years, but we're talking about real legacy stuff here. Having to maintain backwards compatability gets trickier over time I guess, but the Bluetooth thing is naughty as the drivers that came with it have probably spammed your com settings into next week. These settings have been 'standard' since Windows 3.1, so there's no excuse for them being overwritten by lazy programmers who assume that nobody uses com ports anymore > ![]() Good luck m8. You're definitely on the right lines, so keep going. ![]()

Hi jleggz
Have you checked in your bios settings to make sure that your com port is enabled. On some motherboards it is possible to disable the com port even though it is physically present.

Many modern devices like to mess with com ports, and some install 'virtual' com ports which can interfere.
Looking through device manager, do you have any 'virtual' devices listed? If so, disable them for now. Attached is a picture of what your driver version should look like. I'm assuming Windows XP. Is that what you're using? Physically, do you just have one com port, or two? If two, have you tried the other? Check your Windows start-up log to see if the driver has attempted a load. You can do this in XP Professional (not sure if these tools are in the 'Home' version) by doing this: Going to Control Panel Double click 'Administrative Tools' Double click 'Event Viewer' Search through the Application and System sections looking for recent errors. Double click the event on the right for more details.

If the patch has worked, you will be able to see the Premiere package on 19.2E, a massive bundle of great channels.
Most of the movie channels have English audio if you select it from the appropriate menu (you should have an 'audio' button on the remote). You can probably turn the patch on and off, plus update keys like this. Stuff comes and goes though, so you have to accept that whatever you get at any given time is a bonus over and above FTA. STICK
