Default Free French channels have become scrambled

Have had system since before xmas everything was fine until end of May.
Sometimes the channels come on but just for a few minutes (French) & then go back to scrambled
Receiving signal from Hotbird & Pas (68.5E)
System is aTechnomate-1500 ci+ with fixed dish.
Have tried moving dish to get Astra & Atlantic Bird 3 no luck as you can probably tell I don't have much idea when it comes to satellites!!!!l

Hallo Hibou

Which channels in particular are you interested in on Hotbird?

I cant get 68.5E so I cant check those channels.

As far as getting Astra is concerned, its only 6.2 degrees east of Hotbird and slightly lower in elevation.
Do you have a fixed dish that you physically move or is it motorised?

Hello Hibou, and welcome!

OK, not being negative here, but you have your location listed as Scotland, so I think that it's highly unlikely that you're receiving any signals from PAS10 at 68.5E. PAS7 is definitely out according to the footprint maps, as that bird is either C-band or Ku band on a tight footprint over South Africa.

There are a few channels and feeds that are theoretically available to the UK from PAS10, but I don't think that's what you're seeing.

You may know different, but I'm guessing this is an error.

Can you describe your dish and LNB setup, size etc and which channels (as Jim says)?

I suspect you have a patched receiver a single-LNB dish aligned on Hotbird, and were watching the Multivision channels. These have now gone black due to a change in encryption by the provider.

If you are tuning to a transponder on 68.5E and getting a picture, it's probably just because the transponder frequency and SR coincidentally happen to tie up with one on Hotbird.

Hotbird is pretty dead right now, whereas Astra1 at 19.2E has some great stuff open. Let us know if you want to expand your viewing again, and we can help.

Hope this helps.

Cheers for fast reply folks
I am receiving loads of other channels but only really interested in French Channels - keeps the missus in touch with home!!
There are dollar signs with these now so I presume a card would work
Dish size is 80cm & is manual
Set up ??
Receiver has also a CAM slot for French card but don't want to use that if I can help it.
I am only going by the on screen information on set up - for satelites I am receiving from.
I am going to try turning dish slightly & tilt it down a bit to see if I can find Astra, think this may be a little frustrating, so I will put some beers in the fridge for latter!!!!!!!!

We need to know exactly which French channels you want to view to be able to advise. Based on your description so far I am 99% sure you are only receiving Hotbird.

We need channel names (and transponder frequencies would also be a useful addition) before we can advise, but if you want to switch to Astra, it's rather immaterial as you will lose Hotbird and nearly all the French channels.

You will also need to re-patch your receiver with a null modem cable to get most of the good stuff on Astra1.

Hi think I might need that beer!!!
Have got Astra - see what you mean.
Going back to Hotbird.
French channels required are TF1, France 2,3 & 4,M6 & Arte
Sorry but transponder frequencies is way over my head

If you look at the Lyngsat page on http://www.lyngsat.com/nettv/France.html, you will see the channels from France. They are mostly on 13E Hotbird and 19.2E Astra 1

Hi Hibou,
SRG changed some of their frequencies recently, if your receiver is patched you can still get TSR1 and TSR2 on Hotbird 13E 11526 H 27500.
But as mentioned lyngsat will give you a list of French Free to Air channels, if you search the satellites.
Some of the channels you have mentioned are part of the TPS package, which is currently changing its keys every 30-60 minutes, which makes it difficult to watch, without AU, which might be the next improvement.
If you have a look here, it will give you a full list of channels on Hotbird:
_http://www.lyngsat.com/hotbird.html
and try a search on here for specific channels, and if you can pick them up on other satellites:
_http://en.kingofsat.net/
Best wishes

Thanks everyone for your input, but it looks like I will have to buy a card.( & us Scots really hate to spend money!!)

Stick
answers about frequencies (I don't suppose it will make any difference)
Hotbird 10834V TP116 or 10873V TP118 .

I don't think Atlantic Bird reaches me but if I am wrong then
11591V TPKB4

These are all for TPS but a little more info about opening up Astra, as this gives me an option of the other French network I think, would be appreciated.

Cheers everyone
