I'm not sure what size dish you would need to receive S*y in Sweden, but there are a couple of channels on Eurobird 1 that you might get, try 11623 H 27500 for Abu Dhabi TV and Phoenix CNE. Also 11642 V 27500, 11662 H 27500.

The default transponder of the digibox (the one used in the signal test) is 11,778MHz, Vertical, SR=27500, FEC=2/3 which is on 2A south beam according to Flysat.

Here's a map of 2A south.

As you can see, reception drops off dramatically at around your latitude in Stockholm.

Check the network ID located on the signal test window. If you're on Astra 2 then it will read '0002'.

Don't trust the signal strength and quality meters in the digibox, they're not great. You may need a bigger dish, and/or a more sensitive receiver.

Be prepared for Sky to double bill you once the system finds out the second box is not connected to the same uk phone line. The T&C's of multiroom state that BOTH boxes have to be connected to the same operational UK phone line specifically to stop folks taking boxes abroad or giving cheap subs to friends & family.

Just doing a little research for you, it looks like the reception of Astra 2D is very patchy and unpredictable in Sweden, so unless you do go for a really big dish like a 2.4m, you may have to settle for a little picture loss occasionally on some channels and in bad weather, although I think you would be OK with a dish that size. The Invacom Quad is unbeatable too in fringe areas.

Local reception reports (i.e. what your neighbours are experiencing) are the best indicator of all, as the satellite footprint diagrams can be a little misleading.

The astra2d site is known as the best source for 28.2E reception reports, and you can find many reports for Sweden here:

You should try to get as much advice and read as much background information as possible before splashing out what is now going to be a lot more money than I first estimated. Get advice form a couple of good local installers too, even if you end up doing it yourself. Don't bother with the really cheap 2.4m dishes as they're rubbish. You need to spend several hundred pounds minimum.

It sounds like a big dish for Sky is the way to go. To motorise that would be very expensive in its own right, so I wouldn't bother. I'd get a different (smaller) motorised dish for everything else (you could maybe re-use your existing Triax 90cm dish and put it on a motor?). Couple that with a good value for money Technomate unless you still have too much spare cash (:spite, in which case go for a Linux box like the Dreambox 7020 or Relook 400S.

As far as digibox receivers go, the Panasonic TU-DSB30 is known for its sensitive tuner, as is the Pace DS430N. Both can be had for a good price second hand.

Please get plenty of advice before spending your cash. I'd hate for you to be disappointed, and getting Sky in Stockholm isn't going to be cheap. Still worthwhile though!
