looking to install a system in Sweden - Ok this is the objective - the idea is to be able see and hear all.
Currently in the UK with a Sky Package but want to have this too in Sweden and more. Dish (requirement 1m+: Would like motorized with multiple heads. Receiver: either Technomate or other I have only started to look today found this site. The satellite world looks like a giant void to me but I want to change that perception. Hope you will be able to help? Great site but still a little over my head at present - I sure this will change in due course and then I can pass on what I have learned - paying back as I like to see things Anyway, got to start somewhere Thanks mlsa |

A big welcome msla,
You have started in the right place, there is lots of help here. First of all, you won't receive it all with a patched receiver, you need one of the linux software driven receivers. At present, the Dreambox has the most support and I suggest you do a bit of reading about that range of receivers.

Welcome mlsa :welc2:
This is the best place for you to start, as we have endless patience and a particular willingness to help the raw beginner. Taking you at your word, i.e. that you want everything, then you will need to invest quite a bit of money (maybe £800 - £1000) and a lot of time, but we can help you with everything. If that sounds like too much money, then you can scale back your spending, but will have to scale back your ambition accordingly. Either way, if you want maximum flexibility, then Jim is right - Linux STB's are the only way to go. Hope we haven't scared you off! STICK

Thanks fo rthe welcome,
First things first. I brought back one of my Sky digibox this week to set up here in Stockholm. Currently have Canal Digital via Satelite. Would to change the to the Sky box. So I shall have to buy a new disk and point to 168.24 from due E to pick up Sky I think? Thanks. Mlsa |

Was this sky digibox on a multiroom subscription deal? If so expect SKy to start harassing yuou about it not being connected to the phone line..
If not, then dont worry. lets see - Stockholm is about 18 degrees east, so the Sky satellites are going to be about 10 degrees east of due south from your location. Unless you have a massive dish you will find some of the channels are missing - especially the 2D channels. (BBC / ITV etc)

I tried to use my Canal Digital setup. The disk is a Triax 90cm with LNB
The dish is roughly pointing due south to pick up Canal digital. I connected up the ski digibox (yes multiroom) and moth the dish 10 degrees south - no signal. I went here www.ses-astra.com and ran the Dish Installation Assistant Stockholm is 18.05 degrees E I live south a bit Had the following Azimuth 168,24 Elevation 22,06 Polarization angle 1,54 |

I should add that I am using a satellite finder also.

Hi mlsa,
the s*y digibox is only set up to receive signals from 28.2 E, you might be on 30.5E or 26E, or other satellites near to it, try finding a channel that has a strong signal, for your region, from 28.2E. If you have a different receiver use that to discover if you are on the correct satellite. |
