Fantastically helpful site for a complete newb as me.
I am considering a motorised system using the 7025 and wanted to go 35V. However, reading What Satellite they state in their review that its not compatible with VBox but that it may be firmware. Does anyone know if this has been resolved or not? If not what Disecq motor would you recommend for a 90cm dish on a South West facing wall? Many thanks |

I cant believe that the 7025 is not compatible with a v-box unless you are talking about a very early v-box.
What size dish do you have and which satellites you want to get? Can you traverse from 28 E to 30 W from your south west wall?

No, I don't want to tell you porkies, but I'm sure there's nothing stopping the 7025 working with a VBOX II. The VBOX just works on a standard DiSEqC signal, and the 7025 can certainly drive a DiSEqC motor, so that sounds like a load of pants to me.
I've never actually seen that combination working with my own eyes, but I wouldn't envisage a problem. If you have a copy of the magazine article, maybe you could scan it in and post it? If you only want a 90cm dish, a DiSEqC motor is perfectly adequate, and a lot cheaper and easier. You can always upgrade later. Where are you located? That's what should drive your dish-size decision if you just want the standard spread of satellites. Oh, and welcome to the forum! ![]() STICK

So you already have the 7025 then?
How exposed is the dish site to neighbours and passers by? If it is very public and could irritate people then 900 mm is max size, mounted on the house, and should get everything you want anyway. Above 900 mm requires planning permission if mounted on the house. Its only a problem if someone gets nasty and complains. You are in for some fun. ![]()

No, own nothing at the moment just reading these forums fr information, I had been thinking of the Humax HD box.
It would be exposed to one neighbour, a counsellor!!! and on the planning committee so 900mm it is and the Sky dish will remain. Any advice on equipment and where to look for the usual software sites.....given the ones I knew of are stopping providing the relevant information required! |

Changes to the dish regs this year now allow two dishes, the larger of which must not exceed "a maximum of 100 cm in any linear direction", so I'd stick to that so that you have no grief based on your neighbour. That'll be fine where you are
![]() http://www.satellitehelp.co.uk/forum...php?topic=16.0 I'd go with a Moteck SG2100 DiSEqC motor too. Gotta go - footy time. Chat more later! ![]()

Hmmm, football was rubbish except Joe's goal and cross for Gerrard's second
![]() Anyway, some good dishes around that size are the Gibertini 90cm, the Triax TD88 (good budget dish), the Raven Gemini 90cm, and if you still wanted to go 36V then the Andrews/Channel Master 90cm (or maybe 1m) with polar mount is a nice dish. With 36V systems, you have the choice of actuator-type installations using a polar mount, or a complete horizon-to-horizon setup, which works more like a DiSEqC motor. If you really want HD, then maybe you should wait for the Dreambox 8000. On the other hand, that could be months away yet! Did you specifically want the twin tuners that sets the 7025 above the 7020? There is a whole heap more software and support for the 7020 - the 7025 uses a different mainboard and chipset/CPU. Whatever help you need, we're always more than willing to help. STICK
